Crocodile Tears

Jake's birthday is this week and we opted for a little celebration last night while his parents were still in town. Mostly it was for Declan's benefit. He devoured his cupcake without a second thought. Obviously he is my child except for that whole won't-eat-pasta but will-eat-vegetables thing he's got going on. I lit up the candle in Jake's cupcake and he let Declan help him blow it out. Once it was done Declan cried out "Do it again!". We tried to explain to him that the birthday candle is a one time, special thing, but all he could do was cry HUGE tears accompanied by massive amounts of drool saying "do it again! do it again!" Eventually he did calm down and eat the rest of his ice cream but it was all I could do to keep from busting out laughing at how adorable and ridiculous the whole situation was. I am making a mental note to get trick, relighting candles for his 3rd birthday this fall.
