My coworker and I took a long power walk to Georgetown and back (we work near the White House) at lunch today. After facilitating a long-ish meeting this morning we were dying to get out. It had just finished raining and the air was warm and damp. Those who know me can imagine what my hair, which is in desperate need of a trim, looked like upon our return to the office. Temps are going to drop again tomorrow though despite today's optimistic high of 71. I really wish that spring would get her act together and just stick around already. My backyard daffodils are already a couple of inches out of the ground, it is a sign! I just ordered a 5 pound bag of chili flakes from Amazon. Yeah we like it on our pizza... Just kidding. I mean we do but not 5 pounds worth. I hear it works to keep animals from eating plants in the yard. The spray stuff didn't work last summer so hopefully this will help my hostas survive.
I saw Insurgent with my friend last Friday night. Am I nuts for going on opening night? Nope, not now that there are theaters with reserved, reclining seats. I thought the movie was pretty good, it had more action that the first installment but the character development was lacking. I also thought the first movie had a better score/soundtrack. I am anxious to see how they stretch the third book into two movies. I can only hope that Insurgent was lacking because it was a build up to their grand plan for Allegiant. I would love to see them tie in some of the flashbacks from the Four short story series into the final two movies but we'll see. No spoilers today but perhaps I will talk more about the movie in the near future. I will say that we devoured a huge bucket of popcorn which I haven't done at a movie in a really long time. It was amazing although I was picking kernel pieces out of my teeth for days.
I am trying to find a fun Easter egg hunt for Declan like the one we did last year. It was sponsored by the Reston Association and was free. He was just mastering walking and was still very wary of strangers so he didn't really move too much, just picked up the eggs in his immediate reach. This year I think he will enjoy it more but they don't seem to be having that one this year. I need to decide if this is something I am willing to pay for him to participate in I guess.
Jake's parents are staying with us the next few days. I hope the weather is pretty decent for their visit, I would hate to be cooped up inside the whole time.

The chick from that movie was on Kelly & Michael the day we went. Neither Greg or I had ever heard of her, lol! Funny part was, after we left the show we stumbled upon the site for the NYC premiere of the movie (that was happening later that night) and Shaylene was just hanging out on the street! Too bad we didn't really know who she was, or I would have oggled like a true tourist :)
She was on that ABCFamily show about the pregnant teenager although I never watched it. I would be really jealous if it had been her co-star Theo James that you saw though cause, well, rwaaar! ;-)
