I haven't talked much about exercise lately other than the treadmill desk and to be honest walking really is my main source of it these days. Sometimes I do wish I had a little more time for heavier cardio but the walking is working for now. Well, that and chasing Declan around. I reached my pre-Evan pregnancy weight a few weeks ago but am still hoping to shed a little bit more since the stress of selling our condo and trying to get pregnant caused me to put on some extra before he was even conceived. I am getting close and my Fitbit has helped a lot. I have a step goal of 15,000 a day, which is totally do-able on normal work days, harder on the weekends. I typically start my day with an hour or so on the treadmill desk. If I throw in a lunchtime or afternoon walk I can typically meet my goal before I leave for the day. In the evenings instead of sitting on the couch I can keep moving on my small stair stepper if I need to catch up on steps or just want to not sit still. I also use the Fitbit app to keep track of my food intake. Food tracking helped immensely after Declan was born and has helped again this time around too. What I like about the Fitbit app as compared to The Daily Plate or Weight Watchers is that it kind of keeps track of your in and out of calories in real time. I am still indulging a little too much in sugar which isn't helping my cause. Hopefully I can wean myself off that "comfort". I was just moved into a new office at work that is directly across the hall from the floor candy jar. Ugh. Resisting that is going to take some will power, let me tell you. I keep my meals small and try to eat healthy snacks throughout the day so I am not getting really hungry at any point. I am sleeping well (thank you Evan and Declan for that!) and drinking lots of water. One thing I have discovered is that all of this time on my feet, whether walking or at my standing desk, has really helped my digestion. I don't get the terrible gas pains and such I used to get in the afternoons from sitting at my desk after lunch.
So that's about it. I don't really have any plans to get back into running. Perhaps someday but I'm not sure as my joints age I am sure they won't appreciate it. I am just trying to stay healthy and active so that I can keep up with the kids as they grow.
