Oh the weather outside

For the past three days it has been an on and off wave of snow, ice and then more snow. Our neighborhood was a lovely winter wonderland until the sun came out yesterday and began to melt it all away. On Monday afternoon one of our neighbors brought over a sled for Declan so I took him out yesterday for his first ride around the neighborhood. He wasn't terribly impressed but he did seem tired. The amount of snot escaping his nose has increased since the weekend and so I think he's feeling a little under the weather. I had a wonderful day with him yesterday, regardless. I can't believe Christmas is in two weeks! I finally got our holiday cards ordered and hope I can turn them around pretty quickly once they are delivered. I considered paying for automatic mailing but it just seemed too impersonal to me for some reason. I actually baked some cookies yesterday which was a nice surprise for Jake when he came home from work. I also had shoveled the driveway which I think he appreciated more. I spent some time on Ebay scouring for a new camera lens as a Christmas present for Jake to give me but so far the used prices aren't really much better than new. Jake is getting a miter saw that I asked him to pick out for himself. It's time to re-focus my shopping though onto furniture since, amazingly, we are now under contract with the condo!

We didn't think it was going to happen before the new year. Our last potential buyers were trying so hard to chip away at our list price and they were being unreasonable (in my opinion) so we shut them down last week making our previous offer to them our final offer. We figured we weren't any worse off losing money waiting for the new year than caving to their offers. I guess they want our place more than I anticipated because they stewed for the weekend and came back to us on Monday with what we are deeming an acceptable offer and instead of waiting until February to close like they wanted to we are now closing at the beginning of January. Now we just have to make it through the inspection process and hope they don't have too many demands. We definitely feel more comfortable about this now that we know they have a real vested interest in our place. It feels good to know that we are going to get our furniture and will be able to really start to settle into our new home.

I slipped on ice and fell walking to the bus stop this morning. It wasn't a huge deal but I have some mild pain in my left hand and at my left hip. I'm going to feel it tomorrow though!

I hope everyone has been having a great week!
