The week, from hell. Seriously. But I'm in a surprisingly good mood today and feeling very thankful for all the wonderful things in my life. Sorry, this will be short.
I was sick with a cold all last weekend. I felt better on Monday, thankfully. Tuesday in the wee hours of the morning Jake and I both awoke with the nastiest stomach virus plague ever. We were barely able to get the kiddo, who was healthy, thankfully, to daycare for the day before collapsing on the couch and trying to keep anything down. By the end of the day we were in much better shape than the start but it was pretty horrific. I missed my agency holiday party. Stomach virus gone I dragged myself to work on Wednesday because I was lucky enough to get an invite to a holiday reception at the White House and I didn't want to miss that (There are just a few photos if you can find me on Instagram). Unfortunately my cold came back with a vengeance that evening despite the fact that I didn't partake in much of the party food or any of the drinks. I've been coughing ever since although it is improving today.
Yesterday was the day our potential buyers were supposed to have their home inspection but as I suspected, once they reviewed the condo documents they decided that the maintenance of the condo building was going to prove too much for their very limited budget (seriously, they shouldn't have been trying to buy the place to begin with) so they pulled out based on the condo documents contingency. We'll be back on the market either just before or just after the new year and hoping January finally brings us a reasonable buyer.
Worst of all though was hearing that one of my coworkers has a boyfriend in the hospital with a pretty serious yet unexplained condition that has brought on partial paralysis. I feel so badly for her as she's been spending most of her time at the hospital with him and is even abbreviating her trip home next week to see her family. I really, truly hope that everything works out for them and that the doctors can find a treatment that helps. It really is heartbreaking to hear about.
So I am glad this week is now ending. The weekend looks promising and I am very excited to celebrate Christmas with my family next week. Declan is doing well and has been particularly happy this week which must mean that second molar is about to break through and his pain has been eased. He's laughing a lot more, which I love. Speaking of, we play a game, since he's not talking yet, where I ask him "where is daddy" and he looks around until he finds Jake. Yesterday I switched it up and asked him "where is Dublin" and he looked at the dog. I wasn't sure he'd picked up on her name yet but I guess so. Love!
Well this is longer than I thought it would be. I will likely not be back on the blog before Christmas and maybe not before the New Year so I will wish every one happy holidays now!
