Dear Photograph

I am really enjoying this Tumblr page I just learned about called Dear Photograph. Unfortunately because most Tumblr pages or at least parts of them are blocked at my work I have to view it through Google Reader. The concept is that people submit a photo of an old photograph taken in the same place as the original was taken. Most of the entries I've seen so far include pictures of old family members with nice sentiments. It's really cool. I would love to do something like this sometime and I would probably just take the photo up at my parents house. How lucky that they still live in the same house I grew up in.

We are less than a month from finding out the gender of the baby. It's funny, we agreed on a boy name pretty easily a while before I actually got pregnant (and I realize that our minds could change between now and November but we're pretty settled on it). Girl names haven't been as easy. I decided to not put a lot of thought into it before we knew if we even needed a girl name, but I will admit that every time a name pops up that I like I make a note of it so that I won't forget which ones I liked if/when the time comes to discuss it further. Of course the list now has 13 names on it. Oops. Each name also has a notation next to it of its rank on the Social Security baby name list as well as whether it is increasing or decreasing in popularity. I swear I'm not a complete type-A crazy person here, I'd just like to avoid our child being one of 4 or 5 girls with the same name in their school classes. Nothing wrong with that. I suppose that with all of the people we know who are having baby girls this year it's not a bad thing to have a bunch of options on hand.

We also decided for the sake of our sanity that we will not be sharing our name choices before we get the chance to formally introduce our child in November. My opinion is that personalized gifts can wait until there is a healthy baby to actually buy them for.

I do love how certain traits run rampant in our family Jess. Just because I don't have a spreadsheet yet doesn't mean I won't resort to that eventually, ha ha ha!

I forgot to mention that the girl middle name is also set and that will actually help the process of choosing the first name if that ends up being the case.
