I went onto iTunes last week to download something else and also ended up with Keane's new album,
Strangeland. I do love a good non-guitar band album from time to time and this one didn't disappoint. I'll admit, I haven't paid much attention to them since their
Hopes and Fears album in 2005, which at the time was faring pretty well thanks to powerhouse ballads like "
Somewhere Only We Know".
Strangeland has gone over well with me. I've been listening to it for the past week and it has really grown on me. There is a good variety in the style of the songs, my favorites being "
Neon River" and "
On the Road". I need to do a little research to see if it's worth filling in with the two albums they released between
Hopes and Fears and this one.
I've also almost reached the point of driving Gotye into the ground. I suppose I should take a break from it before I drive myself nuts. I also snagged a cover of one of my favorite Peter Gabriel songs "
Come Talk to Me" done by Bon Iver. It's fantastic. I can't get over how they made it their own while keeping the same
haunting essence of it. Speaking of, the dual disc set of the Secret World Tour Live is amazing. I bought it in 1994 and I still get chills when I listen to it sometimes.
And in case you were wondering, I don't think Jake has added any new music to his collection since I gave him a copy of Green Day's
American Idiot in 2005.
