Holiday Weekend

Back to work and back to summer. It's warm out there! We were in Phoenix over the weekend visiting my brother and sis-in-law. It was such a nice trip and I'm hoping to share some pictures soon. We took a trip out to the Grand Canyon and visited Sedona on the way back. The weather in Phoenix was great too, mid-80s and, of course, no humidity. We had a lot of fun and I look forward to the chance to go back and visit with them some more.

We took a red eye back on Sunday evening with no problems. I can't believe my luck, apparently for me pregnancy means actually being able to sleep on airplanes. I was out cold during both of the longer legs of our flights on this trip. I've never had a 4-hour flight go by so quickly. Yesterday we dragged ourselves down to the pool at our building for a Memorial Day party. I wasn't going to buy a maternity swimsuit but then I decided since it will probably be nice to be able to get in the pool over the summer I ordered separates from Old Navy. I went with boy shorts and a tankini top and I ordered the top in two sizes so I could grow into one later in the summer. I should have gone with a plain color but I ordered a chevron pattern instead that ended up being a lot louder in person than it was online. Oh well, it will serve its purpose. I'm glad I got a two piece though, with my long torso I would have had trouble finding a one-piece that fit right even in maternity wear.

We've got a couple more trips this summer that I'm looking forward to. In July we're headed up to Connecticut to spend the weekend with our friends on their boat again. Then, as I mentioned previously, in August we'll spend a week in Maine relaxing. It'll be nice and cool up there, cooler than D.C. anyway, so that will be a welcome vacation, plus we can take the dog with us. Come September Jake will be traveling two weekends in a row for weddings. I am missing the one in New England because a good friend of mine is getting married here that weekend. The second one is in Sacramento and I wasn't willing to fly across country at 34 weeks pregnant. I'm bummed to miss it but it does save us some money in the end.

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend! I'm starting to slowly research what we will need for baby Rank, it's a little overwhelming to say the least!
