A weekend to recover from the weekend

It was a busy weekend and I was surprised by how tired I was last night. We were lazy and made no plans to go anywhere for fireworks. We were then pleasantly surprised to find out how well we can actually see them from our own balcony. This might mean we will have a party on the 4th next year at our place!

We made some new friends on the beer tasting cruise on Friday. It was a fun event. Not overwhelmingly stupendous on the selection of beers, but an overall fun and worthwhile event. We ended up wandering down to Cantina Marina afterwards with the other couple we met. My margaritas were too sweet and very weak but it was fun regardless.

We challenged the heat on Saturday afternoon in order to tailgate before the DC United game. We used our tailgate as shade while enjoying cool beverages. United looked good and we were pretty sure they were going to take the match 2-1 until a tying goal was scored by Philly in the 84th minute. I'd really like to see a win from them again sometime soon. Sheesh!

Sunday we celebrated my mom's birthday with Italian lunch at Squires up in Baltimore. My dad helped us wash our very dirty car while we were up that way. Yesterday the Folklife Festival was our destination of choice. It was very warm so we only stayed a couple of hours. It was interesting but I feel as though this festival loses more and more of its umph each year.

And now I'm back at work for a quick 3-day week. Today has gone by quickly and I hope that tomorrow and Thursday do as well!
