Ugly Admission

I'm not going to keep it a secret, I'm back on the diet soda. I was off of all soda for an entire year but I'll admit, I kinda started to miss it. Plus my days now start earlier with my alternative work schedule and it's nice to get a little kick in the morning when I arrive to the office. I'm not a coffee or tea drinker so I let the soda back in. I'm doing my best not to drink it all the time like when I was in grad school, but I'll admit, I really like having a stash of Coke Zero Cherry in my mini fridge at work.

It's another softball evening. Our game is being played on an actual diamond this week but over in Anacostia Park. I missed last week but again the game ended early with our team forfeiting this time after a line drive to the head sent one of our boys to the ER. Hopefully we don't have any mishaps like that this week. I'm hoping that we get an early dismissal tomorrow in preparation for the upcoming holiday weekend. For me it would mean getting out of the office at 3pm, woo hoo!

And speaking of the weekend we have some fun times planned. Thanks to a Living Social deal, tomorrow evening we are spending 90 minutes tasting beer on a boat while cruising the Potomac River. Saturday we're going to watch DC United take on Philadelphia Union and hopefully win. Sunday we're celebrating the birthday of my most wonderful mom with lunch in Baltimore. Monday I think we're going to check out the Folk Life Festival on the National Mall. We haven't picked a location to watch fireworks from yet but I'm leaning towards the Air Force Memorial which is walkable from my house. I'm still curious to see if our balcony, which faces that direction, is high enough to see them but if we stay home to find out we're a little too far below the tree line then we'll miss them all together. Decisions, decisions... Being able to see them, which some of our upper neighbors can, would be a nice selling point in the future.
