Mmm Pie

I have a friend whose license plate actually says that, MMM PIE. And really, who doesn't love pie? Or at least some type of pie. We had a baby shower here in the office today and so I offered to make a cherry pie for the event. I thought I'd be bringing some home for Jake but this is all that is left:
Well, I cleaned the dish after scooping out the last piece which I then saw my coworker enjoying after all the leftover food got moved from the conference room. I'm not nearly as skilled at pie as I am at cake. This pie got rave reviews however and all it consisted of was a pair of Pilsbury refrigerated pie crust circles, two cans of Comstock cherry pie filling and some Sugar in the Raw sprinkled on top. It, of course, overflowed in my oven which has caused my kitchen to smell like burnt cherries. I should really try to clean that up before Jake gets back from his work trip tonight. He went to Tampa but won't be there long enough to enjoy it unfortunately.

Dubs and I went for a fantastic little run this morning. I haven't taken her running with me in a while because more than 3 miles and she gets too easily distracted by everything else to keep going. Since I started marathon training and my distances have increased to mostly 6 miles and up Jake has taken over dog-walking duties in the mornings. I really appreciate that he does this for me, but secretly it's also my little way of making sure he's getting in some mild exercise. Since I was on dog duty (ha ha, doody!) this morning and since I knew she'd be alone all day I decided a run of shorter distance was in order. I knew it would tire her out and help her sleep today plus with me having a 20-something (I think 21) mile run on the docket for Saturday I figured a lighter run would give my legs a little bit of a break leading up. She did really well, staying focused for the duration of our 3 miles and only stopped a couple of times to sniff and do her business of course. I think once I'm finished with the marathon and I ramp down the running I'll do this with her more often.
