Snow, No-Go

I'm in pain today. My 18-mile training run did not go well at all yesterday. The local sidewalks and trails were not cleared from Thursday's snow but once I was out and going it didn't seem to make sense to stop. Had I just been doing the distance under normal circumstances it wouldn't have been a problem. Running on snow is like running on sand and I exhausted a lot of energy during my run just concentrating on keeping myself upright. I did finish my 18 miles in about 3 hours and 20 minutes but my muscles are very sore today as a result of all the extra work. Am I crazy? Absolutely, but I'm not the only one as I saw close to 30 other runners, individuals and groups while I was out yesterday. The gym here in my condo is due to get two new treadmills in the coming weeks so hopefully I will not have to do that again.

Happy lazy Sunday everyone!

Hi Karen, Ugh!! That sounds awful :-( I know it would be a bit of a pain and I personally don't like driving to run, especially for long runs; but Rock Creek Park north of Pierce Mill on weekends is really great in these situations since the paved (and fully plowed) road is closed to cars on weekends. Super kudos on getting through the 18 anyway and I hope your muscles recover quickly!!!! I'm going to run the National Half and then we'll be there to cheer you on :)

Thanks Katie! I might have to give Rock Creek a try for runs if for no other reason than to mix things up a bit. I appreciate the suggestion!
