Surviving the Storm

It wasn't hard, trust me. I rolled into the Harris Teeter after work and left with an interesting combination of items including 3 organic sweet potatoes, a dozen eggs, a box of Milkbone dog biscuits, a container of blueberries, a container of spicy hummus and a bottle of Malbec. It was a nice evening. I made sweet potato fries to go with dinner and a half dozen hard boiled eggs for snacking on this weekend (mmm... protein). I was very productive working on laundry and hanging our new DC city map on the wall. I also purged our condo of the accumulation of cardboard boxes that was piling up from recent online shopping activities.

So I decided since I missed my run yesterday morning (slept horribly) that I would give it a go this morning. Am I crazy? Well, probably. But I will say that I did my best to only stick to sidewalks that had been cleared. This meant doing multiple short loops but I still got in an easy 3 miles. My training schedule is calling for another all-time high for me, 18 miles tomorrow. I may defer this to Sunday morning if things haven't melted up a bit today but I hope not to have to do that. I've already picked out my pasta-filled dinner choice for tonight as we've rescheduled our dinner with friends from last Friday. I hope that if I just take it easy like I did last week I won't have any problems.

I'm also hoping to find the glass globe Christmas ornament that Pottery Barn apparently had this year. I was clueless about it until I saw it mentioned on another blog I read and I am dying to find one now. It's sold out online but I'm hoping a stop at the Clarendon Pottery Barn location will be fruitful. Wish me luck. As a cartographer I must have a globe on my tree and I don't currently! I'd actually like to get more than one but I'll feel successful if I can get my hands on one at all at this point. This is what I get for trying (note I said trying) not to shop too much during the holidays! Image via Pottery Barn
