My parents came down on Saturday to tour the White House and see the holiday decorations. In the past this has been a pretty painless process. I input everyone's information ahead of time, we show up on time get processed and we're in. This year, for some reason, there was some major gumming up of the works. We waited in a long line for half an hour and gave up realizing we wouldn't even get in before the reservation time I made for dinner which was supposed to be after our tour. In my 5 years of doing this I have never encountered such a lag in the process. It was ridiculous. We enjoyed our early dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill much more than a crowded walk through the White House. I am bummed that I didn't get a chance to get an photos inside though.
The muscle pain from my fateful run on Saturday morning has mostly subsided. My right hip is still not completely happy with me so I'm taking another day or two of rest before I get back out there. This week is a lighter recovery week in my training schedule, thankfully, so I know I'll be in good shape for my 12 mile training run this Saturday (yup, on Christmas Day, what else am I going to do for 2 hours in the morning?). I hope I can find a good route around my parents' neighborhood.
The office is quiet this week so you'll likely hear more from me this week than normal. Lucky you! Ha ha!
