Where to start... Declan had a fever on Friday but then seemed fine on Saturday morning, aside from the poison ivy (or poison oak) that has been bothering him for about a week. After his nap though he was a mess complaining of pain in his left ear. Just having gone through this with Evan I did not waste time. We went off to urgent care where he was prescribed antibiotics. (Funny side note: I got his Rx filled at Patient First to save time since it was generic. It is bubble gum flavored suspension. Evan's was filled at Target and is cherry-flavored suspension. Evan's smells far less putrid than Declan's. Evan doesn't hesitate to take it but Declan has had to be convinced. Lesson learned I guess.) He seemed better yesterday even going out on his balance bike for a ride after doing the grocery shopping with me. His poison ivy seems better too after some allergy meds and a couple of oatmeal baths. He went all day yesterday with no accidents either which was very exciting!
Evan is doing better on his meds. His eyes are watering a lot less. He has been very cranky though and so I checked for teeth. Seems his top two one year molars are working their way through, no wonder. I hope that process finishes quickly because little man is not happy. With his first birthday fast approaching and our daycare provider asking for formula, we decided to make the switch to milk over the weekend. He seems a little unsure but has been drinking it some. I was spoiled by Declan's continued enthusiasm for milk. I hope keeping Evan hydrated won't be a problem. On the plus side, no more bottles! I am trying to figure out what to do with them. I suppose they can be recycled.
Jake got sick with sinus stuff at the end of last week and I am battling that currently. It isn't fun. The worst part of the weekend was by far getting some bad news about a long-time friend of Jake's receiving a cancer diagnosis. We are both pretty broken up about it but especially Jake since they have known each other since before he can remember. We are, obviously, hoping for the best. And this is where I close with my big F-U to cancer. I have really had enough of your shenanigans, particularly this year. Enough already. Seriously.
