Thoughts for Sunday

It was a stressful week. I can't get into any details and I apologize profusely for being one of those annoying, ambiguous posters. Let's just say that hopefully some big changes are ahead and not at home. Some generally well-heard thoughts are running through my head this morning and I thought I would share before heading off to Gymboree class with Declan.

Don't judge a person or their situation until you've walked a mile in their shoes. I truly believe this is important and sadly, I forget it sometimes when I am caught up in the details or when I am plagued with confusion (I hate being confused). Walking a mile can be as simple as being a listening, sympathetic ear.

Want and need are two very different things. I have real trouble distinguishing the difference sometimes.

It is okay to be there for someone while trying to better your situation. Sometimes support comes in ways that are very different then what you think is needed. Still I am, and have been for a long time, a huge believer in taking care of yourself first. I don't mean being selfish, but continually putting the needs of others in front of your own happiness can really crush your spirit.

Keep in touch with your friends! As adults, some with children, this gets difficult but it is so worth the effort.

Lastly, don't assume because a situation seems awkward or against "norms" that it isn't okay.

Okay, now that I have confused you with all of this random, ambiguous crap that I needed to get off my chest, I will shut up. Have a great Sunday everyone and if you are local to me then enjoy the snow melt that is coming this week! I know I will!
