Furlough, Day 1
I am actually in the office right now. We are being paid for 4 hours in which to set up out-of-office replies, tie up loose ends, sign paperwork, etc. We were given the option to do this via telework but I opted to come in because I have a feeling I am going to get a little stir-crazy at home. At least there is work to be done there packing up the place. Jake and I are very fortunate to be in a situation that normally this wouldn't really affect us that much. The timing is just very bad. We have no idea at this point how this will affect our eligibility for the financing we have lined up for our new house. When we went under contract they told us we are basically in "financial lockdown". Don't make any big purchases, open any accounts or change employment. Sigh. I know that there will be a lot of people who are way worse off but please cross your fingers for us that this doesn't last long and that our home purchase doesn't fall through. We've been working very hard since we got married saving up for this and we were lucky to find such a perfect house so quickly. I don't want to lose it.
