Do You Remember?

I sing Jack Johnson songs to Declan pretty regularly. There are two actually that I go to the most. First, as I have mentioned before is Banana Pancakes, which is his bedtime song. He still smiles when I sing it although I suppose eventually he will learn that hearing it means bedtime and maybe he won't like it as much. The other one is Do You Remember? This is a cute little 2 1/2 minute diddy he sings to someone, a women I assume from the lyrics, asking her about memories from their past. It's adorable and a little quirky.

When singing it to him the other day I realized that just the first two lines could be changed to reflect how Declan and I "met" if I just changed "September" to "November" in the song:

Do you remember when we first met, I sure do, it was some time in early November.
You were lazy about it, you made me wait around, I was so crazy about you I didn't mind.

I love my new version. It's the perfect little anecdote about my big little guy who seemed to want to stay in utero indefinitely. I know that he will likely not appreciate my levels of sentimentality in a few years so I have to soak it up while I can.
