For Me
Sorry for the random selfie of my hand. I made a decision recently to try and get in little bits of me time whenever I can. I would say my life balance is pretty good. I wish I saw friends more but everyone is busy so it's understandable. I don't have a lot of time for exercise. People say if you really want something you make time for it. I guess I don't want to exercise all that much. I mean I do, but my son is my priority followed by my general well-being which means sleep over exercise. I devote all of my evening time before he goes to bed to him because that time is precious and he deserves it and that is where I want to spend it. We don't even bother with dinner until after he's gone to bed. We've taken to watching Jeopardy! while we eat which is enjoyable. I don't like to workout after I eat so the thought of eating dinner at 7:45-8:00 and then working out is just painful to me. I already get up at 5:30 so getting up earlier isn't really an option at this point either. I'm okay with this. I do a lot of walking and I'm not feeling un-energetic so for now I'm just going to go with it. One thing I have decided to do though is make little time for things for me. I have decided one of these things will be painting my nails. This may seem trivial but in the end it is important. I have never been big on painting my fingernails. Toenails? Yes. I keep them in tip top shape all spring, summer and fall (except for the end of last summer when I was no longer able to reach them, ha ha!). My fingernails never seemed worth the effort because no matter how much base coat/top coat/polish I use they seem to chip within a couple of days. I like the way they look though so I decided now that one of the little things I will do for myself is paint my nails at least once a week. It makes me feel good about myself and it is good for me to focus some time on just myself, something I tend to forget to do while taking care of my family. I just ordered three new fun colors so hopefully my nails will be "on trend" all summer.
