Almost There

So this hurricane thingy came through, what a pain in the butt. It was nice to have two days off from work but I can't say I got a lot of cleaning and such done as most everything that was on our balcony is sitting around inside. We also had a problem with water coming in on the side of our unit that was taking the brunt of the wind and rain for hours on end. We were quick to pull back the carpet in the nursery and once it's good and dry we should just be able to tack it back in place, good as new. Some water also seeped under our hardwoods in the main room but it wasn't enough to warp the boards and I think once it dries it won't be that noticeable. We just have to make sure we spray some Lysol. Many of our neighbors suffered a similar fate because the windows installed in our building aren't properly sealed, no doubt as a result of shoty work by the developer who did the condo conversion. The good news is that we'll get some reimbursement money from the building's master insurance plan. If everything dries well with no signs of mold then we plan on just holding onto that money and using it to have the hardwoods refinished when we sell down the road.

My doctor's appointment was delayed for 2 days because the office was closed. I was concerned about rescheduling it given how busy they typically are but once I got through this morning they said to come in and they'd see me right away given how far along I was. The good news is that the doctor we saw didn't seem to think that baby's size was as much of an issue as the previous doctor did. He said he didn't think that baby boy would be much over 9 pounds if over 9 pounds at all. His estimate was 8 1/2 and his recommendation, given my progress, was to wait for labor. He said that if during labor my body realizes that it can't physically deliver it will stop dilating at 8 or 9 cm and then we can opt to intervene with a c-section if necessary. He also seemed to think that labor could start any day now, which was good to hear. So we're going to wait it out. We have a scheduled induction on November 9th just in case I don't go into labor for some reason. Jake and I both feel much better about things now and are very confident in our decisions this morning. We were encouraged to do lots of walking.

This is my first day on telework since the past two days have been crazy. So far, so good. I have access to everything I need and I get to sleep in a little longer in the morning.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support through this. Being a first time parent is challenging and given my nature to worry too much and be too emotional only makes it more challenging for me. I'll keep you posted on how things progress. I certainly hope we'll be welcoming baby Rank into the world very soon!

Happy Halloween!
