Super-Quick Update

Things have gone into hyperdrive mode at work. With my time widdling away I've got a laundry list of things that I am trying to finish before I go on leave. Not to make speculations because you just never know but that might happen sooner than November 3rd.

Baby boy is doing great but he's growing like a weed. I do understand that ultrasound measurements are incredibly inaccurate BUT large babies do run in my family, both sides. They were estimating last week, at 31 weeks, that he weighed 4 lbs 13oz but they say that is + or- 11 oz. Still that is over 4 pounds which means he doubled in size since my previous size ultrasound at 25 weeks. I could feel it too, particularly the week we were in Maine on vacation. I felt much more weighed down at the end of the week then I did when we arrived. (We had a wonderful, relaxing time, by the way.) The doc said that if he maintains his current growth rate there shouldn't be any problems delivering although she'd be surprised if he went to 40 weeks. If his growth spikes more there is a teeny, tiny chance they will induce at 39 weeks. They also checked on the fibroid they found way back at my 8 week ultrasound and it hasn't grown. It's obviously not impeding our little guy's growth so they're not worried about it. And for those curious my mom informed me that I was born 15 days early and weighed 8lbs 5oz. So, yeah, large babies in the family. I have one additional sizing ultrasound scheduled at 37 weeks.

On a side note, what they say about being careful that the baby weight doesn't compress a major artery in your back is true. The ultrasound tech reclined me a little too much and within 10 minutes I was feeling pretty light headed. It was so weird.

The nursery is almost finished! I'm so thrilled and props to Jake for all his hard work. We have a nice glider thanks to my friend Kristine and we have a crib! All that's left is the decorating which I am going to tackle the next couple of weekends while Jake is away for weddings. Speaking of, we have 3 weddings the next two weekends and we're not going to any of them together. Bummer. So it goes. My OB practice says that domestic travel is okay up to a month before my due date but I just can't imagine a flight to California at this point.

In other minor news I did finally get a new phone. On Friday I activated my Samsung Galaxy SIII and I love it. Hopefully Verizon service treats me better than AT&T has been. Oh and a note about that, if you switch and port your number over your service with AT&T will automatically be cancelled. You will, however, have to call them because they will automatically charge you for a full month's service if you don't. I was only 5 days into my billing cycle and they pulled that crap. Apparently it's their policy not to prorate unless you request it. Sneaky bastards.

Okay I have to get back to this work. I hope I all of my readers have been doing well!

P.S. Go Orioles!
