Weekend Plans

We had a long morning. The 16-week appointment for the baby was scheduled for 10:15. My OB apparently had an emergency patient come in that morning who had to be wheeled down to the hospital (lower level, same complex) and so all the appointments were backed up. I felt terrible for the woman. I don't know what the problem was but she apparently needed immediate surgery. My heart aches thinking about what the problem could have been and I hope that she is alright. We didn't get seen until around 11:30, so lots of waiting, but worth it of course to hear the whoosh, whoosh of the baby's hearbeat. I made it into work just in time to eat lunch, leftover Chinese takeout, so of course, two hours or so later, I'm hungry again.

Tonight we are going to the movies for the first time in a while. No, we aren't going to see What To Expect, but what appropriate timing for that release, huh? We're going to finally see The Avengers after grabbing dinner out.

Tomorrow is my friend Emily's infamous 'Ladies and Babies' party. She typically hosts it the weekend before Memorial Day or shortly after and it's an annual gathering of all her female friends and their kids, if they have them or want to bring them. It's always a good time and I look forward to catching up with some friends and meeting some new people. My goal is to make a key lime pie tomorrow morning (Em's favorite) before I go, but given a long movie tonight we'll see if I am motivated in the morning. I might wimp out and buy one instead but we'll see. Last time I made her a key lime pie it turned out fantastic so I'm feeling compelled to follow up with another.

I think on Sunday we're hoping to catch some brunch with friends. If the weather is nice I'm also hoping to get the liquor cabinet that we've supposed to have been working on outside for some priming and painting. The weekends have been busy lately for one or both of us so with the exception of buying new hardware for it, the cabinet has been ignored. I really want to get this project finished because depending on the ease of it and the quality of the outcome, I am really hoping we can refurb a secondhand dresser for the kiddo's room.

So that's about it. Next weekend is sibling time which I am so completely excited about, I can't even begin to tell you! Have a good one everyone!
