So I know that a while ago I posted complaints about applications like Instagram and how I just didn't get it and how it was making everyone think their everyday photography was so great. Blah, blah, blah, my opinions even annoy me sometimes. Anyway this great article appeared today on one of the photography blogs I follow and it really got me thinking. Having more people photographing the world and documenting the everyday in a fun and public way isn't really such a bad thing, is it? Think of what a greater grasp on our history we would have if there had been more photographers, if it had been more accessible to everyone. This really isn't such a bad thing, is it? I wanted to share that article because I found it to be very thoughtfully written and it definitely gave me more perspective on the subject. Not sure I'll be signing up for Instagram very soon but perhaps once I upgrade my smart phone to one with a better camera (come ON already iPhone 5!) I'll join in.
