Come Fly Away

I scored free tickets through work to see Come Fly Away at the Kennedy Center last night. Knowing full well this was not Jake's cup-of-tea I invited my friend Kristine to come along instead. The show is a collection of choreographed dances to Frank Sinatra's original recordings with a live jazz band. It was a great show although I will say parts of it, unknown to me, were a little risque. One of the other couples in the box brought their two younger daughters who I think were a little embarrassed during the "Makin' Whoopie" dance sequence, he he!

A Metro train apparently derailed outside of the Rosslyn station last night, not long after I went through that way to get to the Kennedy Center. I was very lucky that I just missed it, the orange and blue lines were messed up all night. Kristine gave me a ride home so I fortunately didn't have to try and find a cab. Timing, they say, is everything and last night timing worked out for me. I got home in plenty of time to spend some time on the couch with Dubs who was particularly gassy last night. I'm not sure I've ever heard a dog fart as much as she does. We feed her good food too with all natural ingredients and no corn products or animal by-products. Because she is my darling dog I, of course, find her gaseous moments adorable albeit stinky, ha ha!

I realized I forgot to mention what it was that I gave Jake for his birthday a few weeks ago. I stumbled upon this artist who does some interesting pop culture prints. One of his collections is called "Wookie the Chew" and is basically a collection of Star Wars drawings done in the style of Winnie the Pooh. I ordered the special print "Off to Save the Princess" and framed it for Jake. I hung it above his dresser and it looks great. The best part is that proceeds of that special run of prints help the artist manage medical bills for his daughter Maddie who has struggled with some major gastrointestinal issues since a very young age. Given Jake's fortunately mild battle with Crohn's I knew he would appreciate the sentiment.
