We had a pretty productive weekend even if we only got out of the house to grocery shop and make a trip to the hardware store. Jake got home late on Friday so we ate leftovers and watched the first two episodes of Game of Thrones. I've been hearing about this show forever so it's nice to finally be seeing some of it. We're too cheap to pay for HBO as I probably have mentioned before. So far I would say it's interesting but kind of hard to follow. We read some of the guide that was also included on the disc and that helped straighten out our understanding of the characters and how they relate. I really wish Netflix had HBO stuff on streaming. Their lack of decent options online really makes me wonder how they thought they could have ever survived without the discs. Anyway we like this show much better than Boardwalk Empire which we quit after 3 episodes.
Saturday morning Jake worked on some stuff for work so I did laundry and watched Felicity (something actually I like on Netflix streaming). In the afternoon he took care of the grocery shopping while I finished re-filling the bookcases we'd emptied a week or so ago to move and make room for our new "work area". Jake's large desk has been moved out of the guest room and into the far end of our big living room/dining room. He likes the new arrangement much better. His big accomplishment of the weekend was installing our undercabinet lighting in the kitchen. It's really nice, I'm so glad we bought it. Oddly enough it got me thinking about the tile we decided on so many, many months ago and never acted on. Now that we've decided that our time in the condo and owning the condo is finite I wonder whether we should 1.) go with a pattern that has such bold choices (red and black) or 2.) even do the tile at all and just repaint the backsplash before we sell. I mean 4 years is a long time from now but how much work do we want to put into such details if a buyer is turned off by something like our choice of tile backsplash. We might turn to a more neutral pallet of tile instead since having it up will protect the drywall in the kitchen but we haven't decided yet.
Yesterday my friend came over to spend the afternoon. Her husband is traveling for a couple of weeks so we were glad to have her over and keep her company. I made personal pizzas with dough from Trader Joes. They turned out really well. Speaking of TJs I don't go there a lot but I make period trips to stock up on stuff like their pizza dough. I went on Sunday morning to the new outpost in Clarendon. They opened at 8 and by the time I arrived at 9am there were like 7 or 8 registers open and a line. Needless to say it's a popular place. We have an unusually high amount of junk food in the house right now. This isn't necessarily a good thing but I've done well rationing it. We still have Girl Scout cookies left from the boxes I bought like a month ago. I think that's a record for us.
I stopped paying attention to the NCAA tournament games after last weekend. My brackets are completely toast so, like the wonderful short attention span adult that I am, I stopped caring.
For those connected on FB and interested in seeing the outcome of Jake's light installation he posted a photo on Facebook yesterday.
