Four Days

Four Days is one of my favorite songs by the Counting Crows. It is also how long it has been since I've been sitting in front of this computer wondering when my next wave of busy is coming. If I wasn't such a terrible writer perhaps I'd consider starting a book, Memoires of a Map Geek. Currently I am pondering how long these Honeycrisp apples are going to be available for purchase. They are so good! I digress and will get on with my usual weekend re-hash.

Friday evening we opted to actually stay in since we were planning to be in the city a good portion of Saturday. We're still catching up on the last season of Chuck so that we can start working on this season which is eating space on the DVR. On Saturday we used a couple of soon-to-expire Groupon/Living Social deals to visit the Museum of Crime and Punishment and have lunch at Cafe Asia downtown. The museum was pretty cool with lots of content. I was suffering from museum syndrome when we left which equates to mild lower back pain as a result of slow walking and stopping for 3 hours. It was nice out so we hoofed it from Chinatown over to Farragut Square for our late lunch. The Living Social coupon was for $50. That's a lot to spend for 2 people at Cafe Asia. I think originally I was thinking we would bring friends. Appetizers, entrees and 2 rounds of drinks later we rolled out, full, and headed home. We spent the evening watching college football and reading up more on New Zealand.

Sunday morning, after a tough workout, I headed off to Target for a short laundry list of things. I was thinking I would work on a sewing project (similar to image left from The Company Store) during the day but I only got as far as stopping at JoAnn Fabrics to get thread. I really need to get working on it as it's an easy project and I want to be finished by Christmas. Instead I spent the day doing laundry, cleaning and prepping for the week. I got an afternoon text from a friend I hadn't seen in a while. We met up for dinner in the evening and spent a good hour and a half catching up and laughing about a lot of things. I think our conversation may have actually annoyed our table neighbors but I swear we weren't being that loud. It was a nice surprise for the day and a good note to end the weekend on. I'm feeling pretty tired today likely as a result of the strange dreams I was having last night. Per the norm I don't really remember much about them, just that they were odd.

Me and Em at a wedding last year. We look nothing alike but inevitably when we are out someone will ask if we are sisters.

I'm really pleased that I've been powering through our holiday shopping. So far, out of 12 people we need to buy for 8 gifts have been procured or are on order. Two gifts are half ordered. The last two have been decided on but not purchased yet. This includes my gifts for Jake. My goal was to be finished by Thanksgiving this year and I am well on track. It'll be nice to enjoy the season without having to worry about shopping. Hopefully the sales don't lure me in on items for myself. I'm on another shopping hiatus until after our trip although I did order each of us a pair of Columbia hiking shoes last week. I got each pair for around $30 which is quite a steal. Our feet will thank us in January, no doubt.
