One of "those tasks" came up at work this week. Someone wanted something that was completely unreasonable and unsensible. The idea wreaked of complexity and nonsense. But people don't listen. They don't like to hear that their idea just isn't feasible. That is when my boss calls on me to make ugly maps, to prove the point that what they see in their mind isn't what the reality is. These kind of projects make my head hurt, and not because I feel they are a waste of time, but because about 50% of the time, this awful, ugly map is actually liked by the requestor. This is when I just hang my head and say that I don't want to have my name attributed to such an attrocious project.
So far so good with the running. I ran Monday evening and Wednesday morning and hope to get a run in after happy hour with my coworkers today (an excuse not to drink crappy beer). I feel so slow still but I know eventually my pace will pick up. My current plan? Casual runner. I am going to be the 5k queen until (hopefully) a little Rank forces me to stop.
Finally, anyone been to New Zealand? We want to go in January and I've started researching but I'm completely overwhelmed. I just need to know what not to miss. Covering a country the size of Colorado in 2 weeks is going to be a challenge.

When I went, I did a bus tour of the part of the north island. That might not be what you want to do, but it might be worth checking out the bus tour companies and looking at their maps to see what they do. Maybe check this one out: http://www.kiwiexperience.com/. I did something similar to the "Northern Roundup"
Things that I thought were cool were boiling mud in Rotorua and Black Water Rafting on Waitomo. Whitianga had some really cool rock formations.
The South Island is supposed to be amazing though, so I'd suggest you make sure you spend some time there.
I also went to the North Island, but I wish I had gone to the South Island and seen the glaciers and things like that!
Trying for a baby?
Thanks for the tips guys, sounds like North Island first and then more time on South Island might be the way to go.
And yes, next year, hopefully, baby Rank. We'll see how things go.
Forgot the most important thing! If it's Rugby season, make sure you hit up a pub and see the All Blacks dance the haka before their game!
