This is what my carry-on looks like. I've had this red L.L. Bean duffel bag since 2002 and it has held up just beautifully. It doesn't have wheels, there's nothing fancy about it, but it definitely blows my carry-on sized roller bag out of the water as far as capacity. I never have a problem fitting this in the overhead bin with the exception of those extreme puddle jumper flights (like Chicago to Milwaukee or Philly to Portland ME). I can cram so much into this bag it amazes me. Every time I pull it out from under my bed to fill it for a trip, it's as if the bag is challenging me to fill it that much more. I love this bag not only for it's usefulness but because the pathetic sap in me appreciates that this bag has been pretty much everywhere I've been (with the exception of our honeymoon since packing for 2 weeks with formal wear definitely required a suitcase and garment bag). This duffel has been around and will continue to carry me through my various journeys.
I'm very excited as red duffel is fully packed and ready to head up to Boston this weekend to visit an old friend. It's funny, I feel like I've gotten to know her better in the past 6 months or so that we've been back in touch than the entire time I knew her back in the early 2000's. She's graciously offered to show me Boston and what she loves about it, which in my opinion is the best way to meet a city. I hope she has just as much fun in the process as I am sure I will have. And yes, there will be photos, and yes I promise I will try to actually post them in a timely fashion. Have a great weekend everyone!
