Guilty Pleasures

All Things Bright and Beautiful, the new album from Owl City that I pre-ordered became available on Tuesday. I have to say, honestly, that I didn't think it was nearly as good as his previous album Ocean Eyes which contains the infamous song Fireflies.

And yes, I think a lot of people think that this type of bubble gum music, this song in particular, is really awful, but I like it. Consider Owl City one of my guilty pleasures.

This week, another one of my guilty pleasures started a new season on ABCFamily. That's right, I'm hooked on Pretty Little Liars. It's really not a bad show. The acting is good and the plot lines haven't gotten trite or ridiculous yet. Obviously I record this show and watch it while Jake isn't home. He's not a fan. Wonder why!

And speaking of Jake, let's get into one of his guilty pleasures a little bit, ramen noodles. I hear that in college he used to eat them uncooked! Yuck!  I don't mind them and crave them every once in a while but I know that the sodium is through the roof. A nice bowl of ramen is Jake's go-to dinner when I am not at home. I do give him credit for being ambitious enough to drain the liquid and cook up an egg in them when they're finished cooking. I would say that Law and Order reruns are his other guilty pleasure but I don't think a show that prestigious (the original that is) would ever fall into that category for anyone. Everything else he watches is either popular or has other substantive/educational value. Oh and music for him is kind of a non-issue given he's pretty much still stuck in the Seattle grunge-rock era which in a weird way is still very acceptable.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
