Catching Up

Okay, where to begin... Work has been crazy for the past week. I've gotten more requests since last Tuesday than I have been on a monthly basis lately. Things have really picked up since I got back from vacation. I've also been very diligent about taking my lunchtime walks, although there hasn't been a lot to photograph. Perhaps I need to be more creative. We're in the start of another heat wave today though so my only walk will be the 1 1/2 blocks to Cosi for a salad. I was finally able to get my hands in on an infographic for our agency. It's been fun so far but it's not finished yet. This will likely only lead to requests for more of them which I couldn't be happier about.

Jake did a wonderful job on our shelves, as you saw. We got some felt to line them with and they are now full of our colorful storage boxes.

I was supposed to go see The Script at DAR Constituation Hall on Sunday evening, alas, the lead singer became ill and the show was postponed until September 1. Fortunately I can still go, I just have to wait longer to see them now. I was really excited and so it was almost ridiculous that they waited until 6:15 to notify the masses of a cancelled 7:30 show. Thankfully I hadn't left home yet.

The week will be rounding out into a very nice little weekend. Tomorrow is the second Rock the Row outdoor concert at Pentagon Row featuring Reflex, an 80's cover band. I'll probably walk Dubs down there for a bit of it but it's supposed to reach 99-degrees tomorrow so I'm not sure how long we'll stay. Friday is my scheduled day off but I'm heading into the office in the late afternoon armed with my entry in the bake off we're having. I already baked (and froze) the layers of a raspberry red velvet cake. On Friday morning I plan to thaw, ice and decorate it with fresh frosting. I also have to pop over to the West Wing to pick up tickets to see the NSO at the Kennedy Center again. Nothing like a free show care of the administration. Saturday we're spending the evening at RFK supporting DC United as they take on San Jose. Hopefully they can keep up their non-losing streak (seems funny to say that but since they allow ties a winning-streak wouldn't be accurate). Then we're stopping at a going away party for a friend of ours (visually imagine my sad face). Sunday is my day to relax, and I think I'll need it by then.

In other news I started working out again. Our new gym equipment arrived at the condo and I've been making good use of the new elliptical machines. I also started playing Gold's Gym Cardio Workout for Wii, which is a boxing game. It's really fun and I work up a decent sweat doing it, much to my surprise. The weight I gained during the marathon (muscle and fat) has disappeared and since that has gone mostly just with diet, I'm hoping that the rest of the post-wedding weight gain will begin to disappear now that I'm exercising again. I will say, honestly, I'm happy with how I look now but I have some clothes that don't quite fit that I'd love to get back in to (and no, it's not stuff from college, I'm not that unrealistic).
