My nemesis

I have a foe that I have been having a hard time dealing with lately. I am not going to post an actual photo of him for the sake of his anonymity, however he resembles what you see here to the left very similarly. It's the office candy jar and I've had a hard time resisting those M&Ms lately. And really the last thing I need to be doing while sitting on my butt all day long is eating repeated handfuls of those little guys. I like to think I have the capability to make good choices. I eat a healthy, satisfying breakfast every day. I bring healthy options to work for snacks and lunch or I choose healthy options from nearby restaurants so as not to cause myself to suffer food coma in the afternoon. These guy sit on the desk of the coworker I chat with the most and I find that a lot of the time I really cant resist grabbing a few. This would be fine if it was just a couple of M&Ms once or twice a week but some days I visit my nemesis multiple times and I know all that snacking adds up. It doesn't matter if I have other snacks available to distract me or not. I'm open at any and all suggestions with regard to resisting the temptation. One thought I had would be to bring my water bottle with me when I go visit my coworker and just sip water to distract me from wanting M&Ms. Do you all think this might work?

I'll get into the details of our weekend later. While I'm admitting some weaknesses here today I will also admit that the OCD that I am convinced I have is running in overdrive right now. We didn't get the master bath completely finished yet. The toilet needs to still be reset on the pipe as well as the tub re-caulked. Painting took a lot longer than anticipated. Our place is a disaster area right now. There is stuff sitting around everywhere and it's slowly driving me insane. In reality this isn't a huge deal and by mid-week I suspect all will be back in order but right now it's making me cranky. Jake and I opted to stop working on the bathroom around 5pm yesterday after 6 hours of it because we were both out of steam.

We opted to go to Pacers together (woooo swag!) and then have dinner at Ri Ra, the Irish Pub nearby. It really was just what we needed. Oh man, and even though I have been exercising nearly every day I haven't run in almost a week now. The weather last week killed the motivation I had started to get back and I'm officially in slumpsville again. With more ice coming tonight I fear it might continue for a while longer. I'm not trying to sound like a Debbie Downer, I just figured being upfront about the bad as well as the good on this blog is important. With almost 2 months until the marathon and one 19-mile run under my belt I'm not yet overly concerned. I'm just hoping February is more accommodating as far as the weather is concerned and my own motivations. Looking back I think I should have started training at the beginning of December, not November.
