Stressing... and not

So I'm going to be honest, yesterday was a stressful day. As per the norm, during the week before my vacation a lot of work requests have come to me and everyone wants to be a priority. There is really just one actual priority right now (in my eyes anyway), which is for a meeting occurring not long after I return from my trip. One thing I don't plan to talk much about on this blog is my job but I will say it has been frustrating me for a little while now and I'm not sure what I plan to do about it yet. So Jake knows that when I come home from work and immediately crawl under the covers, it's been a tough day. He found me in bed and he listened carefully as I told him why I was so stressed. There are a lot of things going on between now and next Tuesday and my brain can only handle so much at one time. It's because of this that I have opted not to sell the wedding dress to the girl who contacted me. I know, I know, I really wanted to help her out but between her timeline and the fact that the dress is kind of a mess from the ankles down makes me really reluctant to do it. Not to mention she emailed me twice in a 12 hour window of time which just solidified her urgency to me. With vacation coming up next week I know there was no way she'd get the dress until December, I wasn't willing to sell it uncleaned and she's leaving the country. So I kindly told her I was too worried she'd be disappointed with it when she got it and that I wasn't going to sell it. Does this make me lazy for not wanting to put in the effort to help her out because my brain is consumed with other things? Perhaps, but I'm more sane as a result. As far as the dress goes, this little occurance has re-lit my fire to get it out of my closet. My goal is to have it shipped off to Brides for Breast Cancer by the end of the year along with a check to cover cleaning costs. This means that although the bride in California won't get to wear it on her special day, someone will, or it will be used to create other wedding-related items that they will sell in support of breast cancer research.

So before you start to think that I wasn't willing to give the dress thing enough effort, did I mention that my car got hit last week? My lovely little car that we plan on selling next month (I hardly drive it) after I make one last road trip in it, has been hit twice just sitting in the same place. Fortunately it's nothing serious. The girl left a note after she, distractedly, scraped up the bumper on my rear driver's side. (She admitted to fussing with her GPS as she was parking, why I needed to know that, I'm not sure.) It's not cracked or dented so I kindly told her that we would try buffing it out before worrying about getting a repair estimate. Replacing the entire bumper, because it is plastic, is not really something I want to deal with just to sell the car plus it would save her a lot of money and hassle. I figure not charging her will be the one really nice thing I do for a stranger this holiday season. I'm hoping for decent results this evening when I take my dad's buffer to it.

Okay, well enough of my griping, I have fun things to talk about today too! First off, I was jogging this morning and saw nearly 50 people lined up outside of the new Chic-fil-A in Crystal City over 24 hours before their grand opening. Apparently the first 100 people in the door tomorrow get a free chicken sandwich every day for a year. Not really worth it in my opinion but I'm not big on fast food. Secondly, in the realm of little victories, Cosi put a sleeve of free bread in my to-go bag with my sandwich at lunch today! This is totally exciting since Cosi bread is really just about the best thing ever! I wrapped it up and stashed it in my desk to snack on later. And no, I don't consider Cosi "fast food" in the traditional sense.

Tonight I'm venturing out to Jake's last soccer game of the season to try and get some photos of him playing. This will close out my last photo class assignment which included the following options: 1. Secrets of the night 2. Energy or 3. Photograph your best friend. My thought is that shooting Jake playing soccer at night fulfills all three categories! I have a bunch of other photos prepped so I'm really just hoping for one good shot tonight. Wish me luck!
