So back in June of last year I posted to an online wedding-related board in answer to someone's question about alterations to a Maggie Sottero "Mia" gown (which is what I wore in our wedding). Strangely enough someone is seeking out this dress, saw I wore one and sent me a message. My original plan was to send my dress to "Brides for Breast Cancer" but have been procrastinating actually getting that done. I replied to this girl's inquiry figuring there wasn't much of a chance a transaction could take place. She wrote back that she is smaller than I and therefore could have the dress altered to fit her. So I need to get it cleaned, find out how much it would be to ship (she's in California unfortunately) and determine a price. She's on a budget so I'd like to help her out as much as possible while still covering my prep costs and netting a little bit of profit. The only other catch is that in her email she mentioned that in a month she's graduating school and heading back to her home country (which is where, I have no idea). So, do I get the dress cleaned, estimate a price and try to get it to her on time for her departure or do I call it a wash and just donate it? There's a lot of moving parts in this equation and I'd love to help her so I think I'll see what I can do. I love the idea of that dress making not just my day but someone else's as well.

For speed's sake, just sell it to her, and let her make the alterations, that may help you get it done.
I fear not having it cleaned before I send it to her because if it then doesn't come completely clean she's stuck with a dress that has a gray train. Can't do that to a bride!
I think it would be awesome to see what you can do for her, but I would ask her to help you get it cleaned. Perhaps she could send you the money for that part? It could work out and that dress could be part of another special day!
