The daily commute
I definitely don't talk nearly as much about Metro as I used to on my old blog. I'm trying this new attitude which involves complaining less about, well, everything, including the subway. The past couple of months have been interesting with fare hikes and machines that didn't work, but I've survived. Jake, who has been walking to work, recently went on telework 4 days a week, lucky dog. I'm not really jealous of the being at home and not having to get dressed up and such, because I kind of like the routine of it. I also know that I would not get nearly as much accomplished if I were on telework (hello there ADD!). What I'm most jealous of is that when his day is over, he's already home, whereas I get to climb onto a crowded subway car with tons of irritated people. (Crappy iPhone photo c/o Wednesday's commute home.)
We're contemplating selling my car. Now that I'm finished with school, I wonder how much I really need it. It was almost two weeks from when I parked it after my last Monday night of class and when I took it out again. We did a trial month in June to see if we could survive with just one car and we can, easily. I suppose we should find the motivation now to make this happen. I do love my car, it's very fun to drive and has a lot of nice features but it makes much more sense to pay it off and get rid of it I think since Jake's is already paid off and a bit more functional (small sedan vs. smaller hatchback).
I'm about 55 minutes away from starting the Labor Day weekend. We were given early dismissal today so I get to leave an hour early. This weekend's plans include running, of course, happy hour, dinner with friends, french toast, biking to brunch and cupcakes. I hope you also enjoy your long weekend!
