Manic Monday

For me this is following a bit of a manic Sunday. I logged a 7-mile run in the morning yesterday before heading up to visit my parents in the Baltimore. My mom and I hit up Valley View Farms, a large garden/outdoor center where I proceeded to go a little nuts picking out flowers to plant in containers on our balcony. Photos are forthcoming, we're still deciding exactly where to situate everything. After returning home, potting everything (until I ran out of potting soil that is) finishing laundry, dishes, cleaning up a bit and then taking the dog for a long walk, I was exhausted. Today is my early day at work so that I can drive out to campus. Since I was devastated to learn of the cafeteria being closed in the evenings during summer and then learning that the pizza place near campus is, well, awful, I have decided to go to the Giant and see if they have a decent salad bar. Here's hoping.

Jake also has exciting evening plans. Out of the two of us, he is definitely the more "fiscally responsible" member of our family. He's actually the head of the finance committee for our condo association and will be meeting with the board treasurer tonight to crunch some numbers. I'm actually glad I'll be in class as that stuff makes my head hurt! He's been trying to squeeze in as much soccer-watching as he can now that World Cup started. (Speaking of, how about that US-England tie on Saturday? Good stuff!) Last night we both fell asleep watching the Germany v. Australia match we had recorded. I suppose that  means we're not off to a good start given there's a month of this.

Finally, just wanted to report that our little four-legged fury family member had another negative heartworm test last week. She had them when we first got her and the Lab Rescue paid for treatment but it was tricky as we had to try and keep her activity levels way down for the first month after. I'm so glad she's got a clean bill of health and we're all ready to take her up to Maine in a couple of weeks for some r&r.
