Next, we walked over to the fairly new Northside Social coffee and wine bar to try the organic ice cream they are offering for the summer. The place looks great, a huge improvement from the way it looked when it was Murky Coffee. Since I'm not a coffee drinker, I'm glad they've expanded this to more than just a coffee house. I'm much more inclined to go. I love the new building color, the warm inviting interior and the large outside seating area. I look forward to going back for a glass of wine.
Our last stop for the evening was Screwtop Wine Bar. They had posted to Twitter earlier in the day that there would be a wine tasting of some pineapple wine and I was intrigued. We got a couple of seats at the bar and although the tasting was over the bartender let us try some. It was, well, interesting. They had sparkling and still and of the two the sparkling was better, however neither of them was particularly good. I think that if I was making pineapple wine I would probably make it a little sweeter. Anyway, we ordered a bottle of Pinot Gris and made jokes with each other for the rest of the night. They gave us some popcorn at one point which was a nice tasty addition to just the wine. I definitely got a better impression of Screwtop than I did my first visit and am more likely to go back.
It was a really nice evening and it was great to spend some time in one of our favorite neighborhoods.
