Nice Weekend

It was a really nice weekend. First, I will get back to Jake's surprise at work. He won his company's quarterly highest award and they announced it to him on Friday at their quarterly meeting. He was not expecting this at all, but I was since his manager called me on Monday to inquire what a good gift would be. The recipient always gets a nice, personalized gift, like a trip or season tickets or something. This was a lot of pressure left up to me but he said I did very good with my decision. And that decision was that we will be taking the boys to Ireland next year sometime. I am super excited and I hope that it is a fun trip even if they won't remember most of it.

On Saturday we embarked on an adventure to Hersheypark. We were meeting some friends there for a little pre-opening weekend fun with discounted tickets. First, I should mention that those cliché things that people joke about with regards to kids, they seem to keep being true. Declan asked no less than 50 times during the 2-ish hour drive if we were there yet. Our drives to Maine and South Carolina are going to be fun this year. He had a blast at the park though and rode a bunch of the kiddie rides. He was patient and held up really well until the lack of nap settled in around 5:00. We headed home then anyway. Evan was a little less patient but did get to enjoy some rides. He snuck in short nap in the stroller that definitely got him through the afternoon better. I wish I had been a little more patient, honestly, but overall it was a wonderful day. It is amazing how different a trip to an amusement park with kids is than one as a teenager or young adult. I pasted some photos below.

Yesterday was spent catching up on stuff for the upcoming week. Declan is now grocery shopping buddy and he is very week behaved. This amazes me given that I know my brother and I used to drive my mom nuts at the store. The rest of the day, though, he decided was to be spent antagonizing his brother. I think they were both tired but man, that got old. Eventually I split them up and let Evan watch Bubble Guppies while Declan amazed at the neighbors laying down dirt for their garden. It is the little things!
