It was another short week followed by a 4 day weekend (woo hoo!). Of course Monday will bring the inevitable disappointment of knowing the holiday season is over and it will be work, work, work for the foreseeable future. Hey things could get a lot worse. I've got two outfits for you today and a reminder that 1.) the women's room lighting continues to be horrible, 2.) I can't take a decent selfie to save my life and 3.) apparently I don't do well smiling on cue at 8:00 in the morning. Aaaaanyway...
This large print gingham dress caught my eye on Limited's website and I was very pleased with it when I received it as it is super stretchy/comfy material. I wanted to pair it with black tights and ankle booties but the tights were in the laundry. Also I keep leaning toward flat shoes because of the fact that I have a standing desk and when I wear heels I have to take them off and put them back on as I come and go from my office. Not such a quick feat with booties that zip. The riding boots do okay but I think next time I will suck it up and do the booties.
Today I decided I wanted to just be a bit more casual. I got this striped sweater from Gap a few years ago. I love it because although it is more loose and blousey, it doesn't make me look frumpy (the fitted arms I think and the fact that the hem is slightly longer in the back than the front). The pants are standards from Old Navy. I like them, but they are inexpensive pants and therefore you can see the outline of the pockets even though the legs of them aren't tight on my legs at all. Again I have gone with flats, navy blue this time. A note to anyone shopping for a pair of Tory Burch's signature flats, they tend to run on the small side. I vary between a 9.5-10, leaning more towards the 10 after two pregnancies. When I ordered these, I ordered 9.5 because they were on sale and likely (although I don't fully remember) they were sold out of size 10. They fit well enough for a day around the office but my big toe is up against the toe of the shoe.
We have no plans for New Years Eve other than a nice meal at home after the boys go to bed, a really nice bottle of prosecco I have been saving, and a movie. I am very much looking forward to it.
