It was Declan's 3rd birthday this week. Can you believe it? Little man is growing up so fast. I have taken notice in the past couple of weeks too that his behavior is maturing in some ways. We aren't having as many power struggles at the dinner table and he seems willing to actually try things before refusing him. This is huge because he is finding that he likes more food and it means I am not making chicken nuggets on the side for him as much. He is becoming more compassionate too and remorseful about some of his actions. He still has boundless energy though which amazed my brother when he visited us earlier this week. On my holiday I took them to the playground twice and on the second trip Declan pretty much ran the entire 15 minute walk home and was still "going" once we did get home. He slept well that night.

Evan got congested earlier this week, likely due to his on-going struggle with his canine teeth. As with previous times, his tear ducts got blocked and his eyes got a little red and goopy. This seems to be a running trend with him and I wonder if we won't eventually have to resort to surgery to fix it. I am hoping not but we will see.

This weekend we are celebrating my dad's 65th birthday with a big party, something he has never had for himself before. It is a big year for him with retirement and all. I am so proud.
