The One Percent
Okay I am bored so I am going to vent a little bit. My apologies for being annoying. I have seen recently an instance of people referring to themselves as "the one percent". Obviously with the advent of social media and our lives being out there for the world to see, as much as we allow of course, there has been a huge upswing in the ability to do things like humble-brag, only put your best self forward and seek constant validation from others. What can I say, we all do it from time to time. I know I have been guilty of it for certain. When I spied that particular comment, though, it really caught my attention because it was so alarmingly obvious that these people really wanted the world to think they were so special and so entitled. Amusingly enough I then saw a photo posted by the same people that had a donkey in it. I really wanted to comment along the lines of "It's like you are looking in a mirror!" but sadly I am too polite of a person for unnecessary snark like that. The fact that I cared enough to even think it is making me think I need to work on being a better person. Anyway my point is that there are a lot of people in the "one percent" particularly when you live in a large metropolitan area. It doesn't necessarily mean you are an awesome person. It is what you do with it that determines your worth in society. Otherwise you are just annoying people. This may or may not have made any sense so I am going to step down off the soapbox now and find something more nerdy to occupy the rest of my work day with.
