Moving Right Along

It is Wednesday. Already. Sheesh. I have no idea where this week is disappearing to. Here's a quick recap of what's been going on:

We headed to Philly on Saturday morning with our Baltimore friends for Jake's and their reunion weekend at UPenn. It was a really fun time! The rain mostly held off and we were able to cut loose a little, sans kids, without getting too wrecked. We brought back some collegiate wear for the little guy that he should be able to wear for fall. We had delicious crepes at Reading Terminal Market on Sunday morning. That place is huge and I definitely want to spend some more time trying out food places there in the future. Best of all we hit no traffic going to and from Philly from Baltimore. Now going from DC to Baltimore and back was another story unfortunately.

Mother's Day was nice. We had late lunch with my folks and dessert from Coldstone while the little guy napped. He was good over the weekend but a little out of sorts due to teething. He slept a lot.

Declan had his 6-month check-up on Tuesday (E-GAAAADS! 6 months!). The nurse seemed like a bit of a newbie at her job but we think that has measurements are up to 29 1/2 inches in length and 20 1/2 or 20 3/4 pounds for weight. Still in the high 90th percentiles. His head circumference didn't change much, I guess his body is catching up to his big noggin. He got his 6-month vaccinations and unfortunately had to take 4 needles instead of 2 because of a shortage of stacked vaccinations. He cried, of course, but calmed down pretty quickly when it was over and then fell asleep in the car. Such a little trooper he is. He is looking good otherwise and we are now deciding how we will work another feeding of solids into his schedule. So far he seems to have enjoyed rice and oatmeal cereal, avocado, sweet potato, broccoli, pears and carrots. Applesauce is next on my list followed by peas. Once we're into June we are going to start with some pureed meat meals which I do not intend to make myself like I have the fruits and veggies.

Little man sat on his own for a good 5 minute stretch the other morning. I know he can do it but he's more interested in being on his front and trying to figure out crawling so I don't know when he will sit consistently. He's on his own schedule and that is just fine. He has learned that his voice can make higher pitched noises which was been interesting and mildly irritating. It's all part of the process. I swear that he made a sound that sounded very much like the term 'nom' while Jake was feeding him the other day. Hilarious!

We are off to Milwaukee in less than 2 weeks. Hopefully the trip will go smoothly.
