It was flurrying when I left for work this morning and in photos I saw online from multiple sources the grassy areas were white out in the suburbs of the DC area. I feel as though once the clocks are sprung forward we shouldn't be seeing any of this nasty weather. Harsh move, Mother Nature, harsh move.
I do love my 3-day weekends. The little guy and I spent Thursday night at my parents' house and on Friday morning we all took Declan for a little spring photo shoot. He cooperated although he seemed a little leery about smiling for the enthusiastic lady with the camera. The preview shot of him she posted to Facebook was adorable though and I look forward to seeing the rest. I dressed him in an appropriately preppy little man outfit including a teal gingham shirt and an argyle sweater vest. He was adorable.
On the way back to D.C. we stopped in to visit a friend of mine. Her youngest has become the "older woman" in Declan's life, ha ha! I got a great photo of the two of them together that I'll have to share. Declan was on his best behavior and surprised me by calmly sitting on my friend's lap for what seemed like a long period of time on his standards. He is never that still or calm for me! The boy likes to try to move. It was so nice to catch up a bit and I look forward for more opportunities to do the same. Sometimes I forget how good a nice conversation with a friend can make you feel, particularly when they don't mind you venting a little bit.
We opted to have lunch at our local Irish pub on Saturday with Declan to avoid the crowds yesterday and it was probably a wise move. There were at least 5 other babies of varying age there so it was nice not to be the only ones. He got tired and a little cranky towards the end but overall it was nice to celebrate what is one of our favorite holidays even just a little bit. In the evening we visited our friends in Herndon to meet their daughter who is just 2 weeks old. She looked so tiny and not just because Declan is now 4 months old but because she was more than 4 pounds smaller than him when she was born. I will forever be cursed with "large baby vision".
Yesterday was our day to relax and the little guy obliged us well. I ran some errands in the morning and then we just enjoyed spending the day together as a family. Sundays are definitely good for that. And although Tuesday is my usual weigh-in day I got on the scale on Saturday morning to discover I'm just 1.4 pounds away from my next weight loss goal which thrilled me very much. I am wearing pants today that I probably haven't worn in at least 2 years. It feels good.
Time for me to check the forecast for the rest of the week to see if Mother Nature has anymore nonsense in store for us. Hopefully my new rainboots arrive soon.
