Raining Again

It's been a busy week so far. CDC has released their 2011 Youth Behavior Risk Surveillance which means I've been mapping up statistics like a crazy lady. It's an interesting thing, they survey high school students on anything from if they have texted while driving to cigarette smoking and drinking to if they wear helmets while bicycling to if they eat vegetables every day. It's really kind of fascinating if you're into statistics and such. A copy of the 2011 survey is available online here if it interests you.

Our little trip to Williamsburg over the weekend for our friends' wedding was a lot of fun. It was really great to hang out and catch up with some out of town friends and the wedding was really nice. This is the first wedding I've been to in a few years that had a band at the reception and they were really great. We danced up a storm for what seemed like hours. I was pretty tired and had to skip the afterparty when it was over. We were staying at the resort adjacent to the wedding venue so it made it easy for Jake to walk me back to our room before heading to the afterparty villa for some homebrew and mild debauchery. I wish we could have spent more time on Sunday checking out more of Williamsburg but we knew better. Traffic on 95 during the summers can be a nightmare and we wanted to get home to watch some EuroCup soccer matches. We did get to spend Friday afternoon in Yorktown enjoying lunch on the river and seeing some of the historic sites.

I haven't watched the finale of Mad Men yet. I know, bear with me. We've been watching (or sleeping through) EuroCup matches so I don't think we'll get to the rest of the DVR until later this week. I'm dying to know what happened but have avoided any spoilers thus far.

I'm hopeful that we'll get some more stuff done around the house this weekend. At the top of the list are putting the guest bed in storage, repainting the back of the front door and sanding/recoating the liquor cabinet project. I plan on painting the grout between our bathroom floor tiles at the end of June while Jake is away for a bachelor party. If you've ever wondered what happens when you use white grout but don't seal it then you should see our master bathroom. I swear the developers that updated our unit before we bought it were complete idiots. The grout is various shades of brown now and not from my lack of cleaning it. Fortunately they make a nifty kit that I purchased that will allow me to clean, then paint the grout back to white and seal it. I'm hoping it makes a huge difference given the tiles are still nice a white. My note to self on this for our next residence is never use white tile or grout, pick something that hides dirt better!
