Like Vacation, Only Not

So I've begun rotating to the various OB's in the practice I go to. The purpose is so that I will see all of them at least once since there's no telling who will be on-call for delivery when baby Rank decides to grace us with his/her presence. We are delivering at the Virginia Hospital Center, which is fairly new and very nice. The doctor jokingly informed me this morning that it's like a nice hotel. That the rooms are like nice hotel rooms except that there are helpers and you leave with a baby. So, um, yeah, just like vacation, right? Or not. I can't help but laugh about him saying that. For those keeping tabs baby's heartbeat was strong this morning and I've been feeling some light movement for a couple of weeks now. Pretty cool stuff.

Father's Day was really great. My brother was in town again for work and decided to drop in on my folks unannounced. While we were in Phoenix we kind of planned it out although we weren't there yet when my brother arrived. My dad was quite surprised though. It was a fun afternoon. The boys went over to one of the local schools to catch what they could see of the air show taking place in Baltimore yesterday. I stayed back with my mom but did see the Blue Angels fly over their house later in the early evening as we were departing for home. My dad then did some grilling and we once again came to laughter during dinner that brought my mom and I to tears. This happens at least once a year it seems. It was kind of sad to realize that I might not see my brother again until after the baby is here but it is really good timing that he and my sis-in-law are coming for an extended visit in November so they'll get lots of time with the newbie of the family.

It's raining here today but I don't mind too much. It's going to be a pretty easy week for me with only two half days and two full days of work. I just printed out a bunch of reading material for a training class I am taking next month and I suspect I'll spend at least part of Friday digging into it. It's a week-long advance Contracting Officer's Representative course that I need to keep my certification. It will no doubt be boring as hell but the certification makes me pretty marketable and useful in the government so I don't mind working to keep it.
