Sweet Inspiration

Someone left a box of German chocolates out in the office today so of course I had to try one. It was a creamy delicious chocolate layered with what tasted like peanut butter, yum! Inside the wrapper I found this message:
Søren Kierkegaard was a Danish philosopher. I used Googe Translate to figure out what this said in German. It translates (literally) to "Understand you can live life backwards but it must forward". In true English I believe it means "Life can only be understood backward, but it must be lived forward". I can appreciate this sentiment. And really who wants to live life backwards anyway? Or even stand still for that matter? I mean it's okay to be happy with where you are and enjoy that time but even then, in small ways, everyone is moving forward. If you are actively fighting that or living in denial that it is happening it's probably not a good thing. Thanks to that chocolate and Kierkegaard for giving me something to ponder this morning.

A thunderstorm came through this morning at around 7:00am. This is sort of unusual but I feel like I've seen a number of these in the past couple of years. It is odd for March though. Mother Nature really seems to want to keep us on our toes these days. I'm hoping this early warmth isn't an indication of a really hot summer.

I have a tiny, tiny scar on my right hand from tripping and putting my hand on a rock during our Tongarriro hike in New Zealand. I kind of don't want it to ever go away.

Jake's birthday is quickly approaching and I was worried as I had no idea what to get him. He never seems to want anything and even this year he's pretty maxed out on clothes. Yesterday I came across a great piece of artwork online and the proceed goes to a good cause so I jumped on it. I'll describe it in more detail in a couple of weeks, just in case he decides to pop on over here between now and then.
