He he, I'm sure my employer would love to see the title of this post... Of course I'm talking about holiday goodies. I have plans to spend the first weekend in December baking up a storm. Some of these items will make their way into the office, some to my family and some will go out in holiday goodie packages to my friends in far away places. (For those that fall into the latter of these categories I apologize in advance for the Post Office's roll in completely decimating the integrity of said goods before they arrive at your doorstep.)
One of my favorite recipe blogs of late is How Sweet It Is. She's witty and has come up with some creative combinations of things. Most recently I've made her chewy chocolate chunk cookie bars. They are fantastic although after the first time I decided that the dough did too good a job of eating up the krispies so I doubled the amount the next time with a little more Fluff and they turned out fantastic. I plan on adding these to my holiday baked goods list along with peanut butter cookies, snickerdoodles and my mom's famous fudge. I also found a couple of vegan recipes I'm going to try including banana muffins and chocolate chip cookies. My place will be smelling really good that weekend.
For Thanksgiving I am going to give her pumpkin chocolate chip cookie pie a go-around. A number of members of my family are not the biggest fans of pumpkin pie but I'm hoping the addition of the chocolate chip cookie part will make it more delicious for them. Have I mentioned how much I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving despite my parents I think being in slight denial about my decision to not eat the turkey and stuffing this year? We're spending the night at my folks house tomorrow evening because I have very fond memories of waking up on Thanksgivings past and enjoying warm cinnamon rolls while watching the atrocity that is the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. That plan is a go for this year again except with the addition of a snuggly black lab and probably a morning jog around the neighborhood. Plus the Packers play at 12:30. It's the perfect recipe for a successful Thanksgiving!
