This was the most interesting title I could come up with from this weekend's events. It was a good weekend, a little busy, but good. Jake really enjoyed Lebanese Taverna, which I knew he would, and I'm sure we'll be going back often. We spent the rest of Friday evening relaxing since he was pretty stressed out from his week of work travel and playing catch up on Friday.
By the time I finally checked the Premier League schedule I felt like a total doof for not realizing that the Liverpool game wasn't being televised until a 3:00pm replay on Saturday. Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea were all playing at the same time so we headed to Four Courts anyway to catch some of that action and to put in some face time now that we've befriended the bartender. I was hoping all three of those teams would lose and of course they all won. The bar was more crowded than normal because of which teams were on and that made it more entertaining.
The party for my brother and sis-in-law was really nice. They had on a marathon of the Back to the Future movies which was being shown because I guess November 5th is one of the significant dates in the first movie. Of course the first is the only of that trilogy is worth watching. They lit a fire in the back yard and watched as Scott and Carey's nieces charred marshmallow after marshmallow. I did manage to eat a couple of s'mores myself, yum! We stopped in to visit my folks after the party. They've been doing some work on their house and wanted us to check it out. My mom had the blocks laid out for the quilt that she's making for us and it looked really great. We've opted for a Jacob's Ladder pattern with brown and light teal as the primary colors. It looks amazing and I appreciate so much all of the work she's putting into it for us.
Yesterday Alli and I spent 3 hours wandering around Eastern Market. I hadn't seen her in months and she's a relatively new friend so I think we spent more time chit chatting than actually photographing but I did get a few good shots that I'll share shortly. We had lunch at Market Lunch inside Eastern Market. People liken this place to the soup nazi from Seinfeld because they try to move people through very quickly and you have to be ready. It was great though, I had a crabcake sandwich that was really good for outside of Baltimore and Alli had a Carolina BBQ sandwich that she said was comparable to what she's used to from growing up in North Carolina. It was a fun afternoon and the weather was absolutely perfect. We stopped by our photography teacher's booth to say hello. He seemed pleased to see that we were out practicing. One of these days when I have more wall space to decorate I'll get one of this fantastic black and whites.
The Redskins lost (of course) but the Packers won again. Their 8-0 streak has me pretty impressed and I am secretly hoping that Aaron Rogers will eventually surpass Bret Favre in fame among Packer fans. I think so long as he doesn't turn into a self-centered jerk he'll do well.
I hope the weekend was good for all my readers. I have a short week as Friday is a holiday so my AWS day got moved to Thursday. I have much to try and accomplish with my 4-day weekend.
