My long run didn't go as well as I hoped on Sunday but I still finished a strong 19 miles. My hip began to really bother me around mile 15 and when I realized how much it was bothering me just to walk I figured I should cut things a few miles short. I didn't have this problem when I did 22 miles previously but a few things were different this time. First I have cut back on the strength training and cross training, plus I didn't go to yoga last week so I can only assume that is the reason. I was pretty discouraged at first but then I realized that I'm in great shape for the marathon, I just need to be strong to the end. So regular running and yoga will fill this week and next as well as a 14-miler this weekend and a 10-miler the following weekend. Then taper. So close to the finish line!
Yoga was great tonight. Class only had 4 people so nice and cozy. She did some great moves for runners and by the end I knew that it was exactly what I needed. My hip feels so much better. I'm really pleased with this studio and have gone almost consistently for 8 weeks. Dublin and I had done an easy 3-miler this morning and my legs still felt fatigued from the weekend. I'm hoping the morning will bring less fatigue.
Saturday evening we checked a few new Arlington restaurants. Jake and I had dinner at the new Burapa Thai in Clarendon and then met friends for drinks at Mad Rose Tavern. Both were more than decent.
So last night we watched 'Inception'. Am I the only person in the world that wasn't completely enamored with this film? I thought it was okay but not totally amazing. I got kind of bored actually. I guess my taste in movies might be in question, but I hope not!
Jake did some work today getting train tickets booked for us in Spain next month. Our plan is to train it from Barcelona to Madrid and then possibly drive from Madrid to Lisbon with stops at Segovia and Cacares on the way. We're almost completely set for the trip with the exception of said rental car. It's nice to think how much I will be out of the office next month!
