Prosecco Saturday

Sometime a month or so ago I was waiting in line at World Market when a very large (1500 mL) bottle of Prosecco caught my eye. I couldn't help but buy it, it was just so large and lovely. We held on to it until we knew we had a day in which to tackle it. That day was this past Saturday. We had pretty much nothing planned for the entire weekend for the first time in quite a while so we decided to spend our Saturday relaxing. After a nice walk with the dog I whipped up some chocolate cake pancakes. I added 1/4 cup of chocolate cake mix to the pancake mix and I have to say they were quite tasty! We popped the Prosecco and started mixing mimosas. This was around 10:30 I suppose. We watched 4 episodes of "Chuck" on DVD before firing up the Wii for some Rock Band 3. At around 3:00 we finished off the bottle. We could have done it a lot faster but it was nice to leisurely work our way through it. We also indulged in a lunch of Nestle Tollhouse cookies and Edy's Cherry Chocolate Chip ice cream. Overall not a particularly healthy day. We headed down to one of our favorite bars, Tortoise and Hare for dinner and a few beers. I actually ordered the veggie wrap to attempt to negate some of the earlier discretions of the day.

We spent Sunday being more productive and making up for being complete vegetables on Saturday. I got outside for a quick run, cleaned our floors, organized a bit and we worked on our first lesson of learning Spanish for our trip in April. Learning enough to help us get by is the goal. Jake also worked on some condo board stuff. We headed to Rio Grande Cafe in Ballston for dinner with some of Jake's work friends in the evening. I ordered the salmon and veggies off of their healthy menu and it was really quite good. By the time we got home it was about 90 minutes into the Oscars so we just skimmed through the parts we wanted to watch and caught up to the broadcast right at the end. I'll admit I was a little disappointed in the hosting but given most of that stuff is written for them I can't fault Anne Hathaway or James Franco too much. I really think they should ask Justin Timberlake to do it. The guy is charismatic and hilarious. Just my opinion though. Anne Hathaway "woooed" too much when announcing presenters.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It's going to be a busy week although I suspect the chances of me not having to work after this Friday are pretty slim, thankfully. We're skipping yoga this week to attend "Mustaches for MS" at Whitlow's on Wilson tomorrow night. 15% of bar proceeds for the evening go to MS research. Should be an entertaining evening.
