Why I'm a Weirdo

I'm going to first admit that I've hit a slump in the running. With 2 months to go until the marathon I have found my ability to get myself out of bed early in the morning is fleeting. I think it's the horribly cold temperatures we've been having. That and general fatigue. I have been in the gym though doing regular strength training and other cardio so all is not lost. I didn't have a long run scheduled for this Saturday, just an 8-miler and I will admit to skipping it. My body has just been very tired and I listened. I hope that things pick back up this week. I told Jake that it's hard to find motivation when the only results you're seeing from so much hard work are pants that don't fit so well. He reminded me that improving my running performance was the big picture here and he's right. Darn him for being so wise!

So why am I a weirdo? Well I don't listen to music when I run. At all. At one point when I first started running I would get really bad diaphragm cramps because I couldn't keep my breathing steady. Music did not help with this at all so I gave it up. Also I like to run alone. Every once in a while it's nice to have a running buddy but for the most part I have found that I really just enjoy the time to myself, even if it is 3 1/2 hours. I know I'm not the only runner that feels this way but I suspect I'm in the minority.

So I realized I owe my readers a lot right now including photos of our yellow bathroom, a recap of the amazing Kennedy Center show from yesterday and a recap of our car-test-driving experience from Saturday. I found that photographing the guest bathroom is really hard because it's so small so I'm going to wait until we finish the decorating to post anything. I do have other photos on the camera that I'll definitely try to get up here tonight after yoga class.

Speaking of photos, my picasaweb album space got full very quickly and so I have moved over to Flickr for hosting of the photos for this blog. I had already paid for a heftier account over there so it only made sense rather than paying again to Google. I have noticed though that the photos seem to load slowly, at least here at my office they do. If this becomes a problem then I'll reconsider throwing some money at Google for the image hosting for this blog. I'm also open to suggestions on other potential solutions, keep in mind that I am in no way technically inclined however.
